Why we built it

We were tired of piecing five accounts together by hand.

Our money lived in a couple of banks, a card, an e-wallet. Every month we'd open each one and try to work out where it all actually went, by hand. And we wouldn't connect our accounts to anyone, that's our money, and our business.

So combining everything was always the chore. Smara is the fix: upload each statement and every account lands in one ledger, the whole picture in one place, without ever touching our banks.

Good to know.

Do I have to connect my bank?

No, and you can't, by design. Smara has no bank connection at all. You type your transactions or upload a statement; that's it.

Which banks does Smara work with?

Any bank that lets you download a PDF or CSV statement, which is basically all of them. There's no direct connection or supported-bank list, you just export the file from your bank and upload it yourself.

Do you sell my data?

Never. Your data is yours, backed up to the cloud so you won’t lose it and synced across your devices. You can export all of it whenever you want.

Is my data encrypted?

Yes. It’s encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest with our cloud provider, and row-level security keeps each account’s data separate. And there’s nothing to leak from your bank, because Smara never connects to it.

Do I need an account?

Yes, a free one. You sign in with just your email and a code we send you, no password to set or remember. That account is what keeps your data backed up and synced across your devices.

Which platforms can I use?

Android is available now, iOS is a fast-follow, and the web app works in any browser. It's free to use, and your data syncs across all your devices once you’re signed in.

What's free, and what's paid?

Free is the whole app: all your accounts in one ledger, two bank-statement uploads a month that Smara reads for you, the web app, and cloud sync across your devices. Premium adds unlimited statement uploads and unlimited goals and budgets.

Is there a free trial?

There's no separate trial, the free plan is yours forever, including two statement uploads a month. When you want unlimited, Premium is USD 3.99/month or USD 29.99/year through the app store. Prefer to pay once? The Founding Lifetime Deal is USD 59.99, but only for the first 500 founders, then it's gone.

How does the Founding Deal code work?

You enter your email here and we email you a single-use code (good for 30 days, tied to that email). In the Android app, the code unlocks the USD 59.99 lifetime option, which you pay once via Google Play. It’s open to the first 500 buyers.

Is the USD 59.99 really one-time?

Yes. One payment, no subscription, and it covers every feature we add for the life of the app.

Can I cancel or get a refund?

Anytime. Cancelling stops future renewals and you keep Premium until the period you've paid for ends. For web purchases, email us within 14 days of a payment for a refund (we don’t refund time already used on a longer plan). Purchases through an app store follow that store’s refund process.
